Facebook's Policy Guidelines for 1-Time Notifications (OTN)
When using 1-time notifications, make sure you follow Facebook's policy guidelines. Any page that fails to adhere to the following guidelines will lose access to this feature.
Main guidelines:
- Don’t incentivize this action. Don’t promise users money, or equivalent to sign up for messages.
- Don’t confuse, deceive, defraud, mislead, spam or surprise anyone. Make sure that the message matches the topic the user agreed to receive the notification for. The content of the one-time notification request and the message must comply with community standards.
Examples of allowed use cases (non-exhaustive):
- Price drop alerts
- Back in stock alerts
- Collection launches
- Tickets available for purchase
- Customer satisfaction surveys
Examples of disallowed use cases (non-exhaustive):
- Recurring content
- Re-engage users with content not related to a user enquiry after 24 hours
- Game updates
- Loyalty program on-boarding messages where a brand send messages spread over multiple days
Pages that receive high volumes of negative user feedback, or that confuse, deceive, defraud, mislead, or negatively surprise users will lose access to this feature.
