Is the message educational or entertaining?

For content to become viral, gain interactions and engagement in social media, it has to be either entertaining or educational. Here are some tips when creating an educational or entertaining content:

  • Make your content interesting so users will pass it on
  • Make sure that your content is worth their time
  • Make sure that when they see your content in the timeline of their social media accounts, they will pause, reshare and read
  • Make sure your post adds value to your readers

Is the voice correct?

It is important to find the correct voice when writing and make it consistent all throughout. Make sure that your content is positive, actionable and helpful.

Is it too long?

These guidelines should help you determine if your posts are too long or too short:

  • Facebook – 40 characters
  • Google+ headlines – 60 characters
  • Twitter – 71 to 100 characters

Take note of these things because the length of your post matters so it can surely get viewed and re-shared.

Is the URL correct?

A catchy headline with a link that goes to the wrong place is worthless. You do not want to disappoint your audience because the link that they think will lead them to the information they need goes to another place. That’s deception.

Should I target a specific audience with this message?

When writing a content, identify first your target audience. There are cases wherein your message is for all your followers. There is also time wherein your message will only suit a specific group.

Did I use the right keywords and hashtags to maximize exposure?

Focus on your terminology so your message will be relayed to your audience in its maximum meaning. You can also add hashtags to your messages to reach to an audience who follow it.

How many times have I already posted something today?

How many times you’ve posted in a day matters. Follow these guidelines:

  • Facebook – 2 times per day
  • Twitter – 3 to 5 times per day
  • Instagram – 1 to 2 times per day
  • LinkedIn – 1 time per day
  • Pinterest – 5 times per day
  • Google+ – 3 times per day

Did I spell check?

Misspelled – This happens all the time. There are a lot of plugins and extensions to assist you with checking your spellings.

Will I be okay with absolutely anyone seeing this?

Take note that the stories you share remain for a long period of time. Be sure that you are okay that everyone sees it though.

Is this reactive communication or is it well thought-out?

Reflect the emotion which is behind your post. Take these guidelines:

  • Is my content offensive?
  • Is my content appropriate for social media?
  • Am I using my content as an emotional dumping ground?
  • Is my content the thing I really want to share?

Did I make the most of visual content – images, videos, slides?

Images are an important factor to boost the reach of your social media content. Work on your visuals so you can successfully portray your message.

Did I make the most of my update text – headline formulas, polls, quizzes?

Aim for simplicity. As much as possible, remove a word that might affect the quality of your posts. Make your post stand out.
